Refund Policy
Effective 18 August 2026
The short version
Ask within 30 days of purchase and you get your money back. You do not need a reason. Email joe@hoodworks.media with the address you bought on, or contact Paddle directly.
Thirty days rather than fourteen, because Storydrills is a study tool used in bursts. Two weeks is not long enough to find out whether you will actually use it.
Who processes it
Paddle.com Market Ltd is the merchant of record for every Storydrills purchase and processes refunds. The charge on your statement is Paddle’s, and the refund returns to the original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
Paddle operates its own buyer-protection terms in addition to this policy. Where Paddle’s terms or your local consumer law give you more than this page does, you get the more generous of the two.
What happens to the material you already downloaded
This is the part most refund policies do not have to answer, so it is worth being exact.
Storydrills is offline-first. The beat bank, your progress and anything you have written live in your own browser’s storage on your own device. There is no server copy to switch off.
So when a licence is refunded:
- Your licence ends immediately. New material stops arriving for the three paid frameworks, and importing beats from a file is disabled.
- Material already delivered to your device is not remotely deleted. We cannot reach into your browser storage and we are not going to pretend otherwise. We ask that you stop using the paid frameworks; we do not have a technical means to enforce it, and we would rather say so than write a sentence we cannot back.
- Everything you wrote stays yours. Your own beats, notes and progress are unaffected, and export keeps working — licensed, lapsed or refunded.
- The free tier keeps working. Story Circle continues, exactly as it does for someone who never bought anything.
Because the material cannot be taken back, refunds are offered on the honour system. It has not been abused and we do not expect it to be. If it is, we will tighten the window rather than start arguing about individual requests.
Renewals
A renewal is a fresh purchase and gets the same 30 days.
If you are refunded a renewal, your entitlement reverts to what it was before that renewal: the free tier plus everything you had already received. You do not lose the previous year’s material.
Institutional and cohort licences
Seat-based licences are invoiced rather than sold through checkout, and their refund terms are set out on the invoice. Where the invoice is silent, this policy applies.
What is not refundable
- Anthropic API usage. Analyze runs on your own API key and bills to your own Anthropic account. We never receive that money and cannot return it.
- Requests made more than 30 days after purchase — though ask anyway if something has gone wrong, because a policy is a floor and not a wall.
Chargebacks
Please email before disputing a charge with your bank. A chargeback costs more than the licence and takes months; a refund takes a day. We have never refused one.
